Josh Won a Contest In Trumpet Class Today...

Josh said his trumpet teacher conducted a contest in today's class. He wanted to see who could blow the "C" note for the longest time. Josh won and got a candy bar for his effort. He did it for us at dinner at Amy's and Brian's this evening. Josh has a real good embouchure and looks like a natural. I asked him to run over to my house so that I could make a movie of him blowing his "C" note, and here it is....

Belle "Running Fences" in Track Practice

As a 7th grader, granddaughter Isabella is on the track and field team this spring. She is working hard to participate and earn a spot to go to a track meet ~~ hopefully before the semester is over. Jarrett, our 8th grade grandson, is on the team this spring as well. They practice from 3-5 ever afternoon after school. Needless to say, Jarrett and Isabella are in great shape with all of the good athletic training and exercise they are getting. I made a video of Isabella running and will make one of Jarrett next time. Belle will be the pretty "shortie" in pink shorts.

Good News of a Baby on the Way!

Psalm 127:4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

It is always a joy when either of my sisters call or email with good news of things happening within their families. It is a blessing to rejoice with those sharing good news.

My sister, Nonie, called me yesterday from North Alabama to let me know that a granddaughter is on the way and will arrive this summer. Nonie's son and daughter-in-law have a precious little girl, Kayleigh. She will be three in November but will become a "big" sister in July. Won't that be sweet? As one of three girls, I know how close sisters are. Maybe "next time" will bring forth a son for I know that avid fisherman/hunter daddy would enjoy those past-times with a son. Anyway, I am thrilled for Nonie that she will soon welcome her 4th grandchild into this world. This is interesting: Nonie's daughter has 2 sons and soon Nonie's son will have 2 daughters. How about that!! God is good!

Dear Former Campus Daughter Gets Engaged!

Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all~~~

Dear Sarah P. We have known her for many years, first as a young teen (2nd of of five children) when her family moved to T-Town from Boston a number of years ago and joined our church. Her folks (Larry and Teri) became dear friends and Sarah was a sweet teen girl with a heart for God.

We eventually left our hometown to take part in the college ministry here. It was during our 2nd year here that Sarah arrived to attend college. She was one of our first four official "campus daughters." It was during her college years that I got to know Sarah on a deeper level... watching her grow from a teenage freshman to a college graduate. She shared with me her spiritual dream of getting married and having a family. It was teaching that she pursued as a career but it was in marrying~~ being a wife to God's mate for her and someday becoming a mother~~ that seemed to be her deepest heart's desire.

It was in her last year of college that she met her college friend's brother. Sarah's friend was from Canada and her brother had graduated from our college the previous year. Josh was working as an accountant in Richmond, VA so it was a friendship that started long-distance. In God's faithful and sovereign plan for Sarah's life, following her graduation with a degree in early childhood education, she took a position at a Christian school in Herndon, VA. It has been during this school year that Josh and Sarah have been able to spend time together, get to know each other on a deeper level, and grow into a love for each other to the point of assurance that God has brought them together for a lifetime.

Sarah called me on Saturday, February 16, to tell me that Josh had proposed and pledged his love with a beautiful engagement ring!!!
What a joy I feel in my heart for Sarah. She has protected her heart and saved it for the man she is to marry.

Sarah called again last night to let me know they have set their wedding date for June 28. Also, she wanted Amy's phone number because she wants Amy's little Jaden to be the ring-bearer. She is to call Amy and ask about that. Not to worry about me spilling the beans for I don't think Amy ever looks at my blog. HA! Anyway, I am thrilled for Sarah and for Josh (we met him once and really liked him!) and look forward to attending their wedding in June.
