GARDEN UPDATE!

Isaiah 61:11 For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Richard planted a little garden back on April 21, and we have had such a good time watching it grow and produce. At last count, there were 160 tomatoes on the bushes. The cherry tomatoes are ripening fast (we are getting several a day) but the other varieties are taking longer to mature and ripen. They surely are pretty and will be so yummy when they are ready to pick! Richard has brought in three nice yellow squash so I think I will fix those for Amy and me. (No one else likes them but she and I love them stewed with onion.) The cucumbers are coming on. There are some bell peppers in production. The cantaloupe vines are blooming like crazy and there are a couple of watermelon blooms, too. Richard has enjoyed gardening and is already talking about enlarging his plot next year and what else he might plant. I know his dad is smiling down on him as Daddy Dean was an avid gardener for all of his life. Here are a few pics made today of Richard's garden.

Cherry Tomatoes coming on like gang-busters!

What a healthy and lush squash bush

Can you see that squash hiding in there?

GOING GREEN!!!

For the first time in years, we have a little garden patch. There are the loveliest green tomato and pepper plants in our back yard. It will be a while before we see any tomatoes, but are already two little bell peppers in view. Our mouths water to think of the fresh tomato sandwiches we will enjoy this summer. Grandpa has had his side kick (4-year-old grandson Jaden) as a helper for two days this week so Granny was out there with the camera. Yep~~ we're going green: with lovely green things growing in our garden.
